Supposed Samsung Galaxy S III

An image of what is purported to be Samsung’s unannounced Galaxy S III smartphone — the vendor’s flagship mobile device for 2012 — has been published by a Polish blog. Claiming to have received the photograph from an anonymous source who said he was testing the device, oPDA.pl on Thursday posted the image to its site, stating that it received no details about the handset or its specifications. While the authenticity of the image is anything but certain, a few things can be gleaned from the image if the device is in fact real.

The display is fairly large, comfortably housing five rows of icons on the menu screen just as the 5.3-inch display on the Galaxy Note does. The device’s display also takes up a large portion of the phone’s face, reaching nearly to the left and right edges of the handset. The proximity of Samsung’s branding to the top of the display casts significant doubt on the image’s authenticity, however, as does the alignment of the thin blue line above the blurred icons.

The device pictured is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and it also includes a redesigned home button that is wide and flat.

BGR exclusively reported this past February that the Galaxy S III will feature a 1.5GHz quad-core Exynos processor, a 4.8-inch 1080p HD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE connectivity, Android 4.0 and a ceramic case.
